Community searches for solutions following ETX mother's tragic death
TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
Community leaders are planning a community-wide summit following the fatal shooting of an East Texas mother.
Briana Young died last Tuesday at a Tyler park while there with her son. Tyler police said they believe Young was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire of what might have been a gang-related shooting.
Now, a Tyler reverend is asking community members to come together for a summit where they can discuss what needs to change in this city to keep the residents safe.
"So, we want to come together in a non-violent community-wide summit, dealing with what we call a solution revolution. We may not have all the answers, but we ought to have some answers," said Reverend Jerome Milton, Senior Pastor at Great New Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
The event will be on Monday, August 12, at 6:00 p.m. Reverend Milton will be hosting the summit at his church, which is located at 502 North Horace Street in Tyler.
