Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON D.C. (KLTV) -

According to USA Today, the United States Justice Department has filed criminal charges in the deadly attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

The Justice Department declined to comment on specific changes, but Justice spokesperson Andy Ames said "the department's investigation is ongoing."

"It has been, and remains, a top priority," Ames added.

The charges reportedly name Ahmed Abu Khattalah, leader of a Libyan militia. The charges would be the first criminal counts to come from the Benghazi consulate attack on September 11, 2012.
