Smith County Sheriff investigating Hideaway Lake community

Posted: Updated:
HIDEAWAY, TX (KLTV) -

The Smith County Sheriff's office said they served a search warrant last week at the Hideaway Lake gated community in an unspecified investigation.

Both investigators and members of the community remain tight-lipped about the investigation, but the Smith County Sheriff's office did confirm serving the warrant and collecting documentation from the community's membership office.

The search warrant in the investigation has been sealed and the sheriff's office said they will not reveal who or what their search is targeting, stating that releasing any information could negatively impact their ongoing investigation.

The community's board president, Bud Wilson, was present for the search and said seven deputies left with a pickup truck full of documents.

The general manager of Hideaway Lake, Dennis Godoy, said the search warrant was very general, giving investigators permission to take a breadth of records. Godoy said he was out of town at the time the warrant was served and added that he does not know what the investigation is looking into.

The search warrant has been sealed for 30 days, beginning July 29. The sheriff's office said they will release more information in the case, but only after their investigation is complete.
