Local boxer wins big in Kansas City

TROUP, TX (KLTV) -

Local boxer Kenneth 'Scrappy' Taylor (132 lbs), an amateur boxer out of Troup Boxing Gym (TBG), is bringing a title back to East Texas.

Taylor recently won the World Ringside Tournament, a tournament in Kansas City, by beating Javar Jones in the title bout.

Jones is a two time national golden gloves champion.

Taylor has fought out of the TBG for five years and has won the regional golden gloves three years in a row.

He has also competed at the Texas State Golden Gloves tournament for the past three years as well.

Taylor fights out of the Byron Payton Memorial Gym in Troup and is coached by Shawn & Candice Vascocu.

TBG will be hosting the Byron Payton Memorial tournament on November 9th-10th of this year.

Taylor will be on the card to compete in the tournament.
