FORNEY, TX (KLTV) -

An accident on U.S. Highway 80 halted eastbound traffic for hours Friday evening.

An 18-wheeler caught fire Friday afternoon on the Trinity River bridge and blocked the eastbound lanes of Highway 80.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, their inspectors had to look at the bridge after fire crews extinguished the blaze and removed the charred truck.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 80 were reopened early Friday evening, but traffic remained congested in the area for miles.
