TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A young man charged with assaulting a veteran Toledo police officer back in May made a disruptive courtroom appearance Friday morning.

Deleno Stine, 19, was charged with felonious assault on a police officer after a fight broke out between Stine and another woman and TPD officer Deb Hahn got involved.

On May 4, Hahn was approached by an 18-year-old woman claiming she had just been assaulted in a domestic violence dispute. As they were speaking, Stine ran up and assaulted the victim again. Hahn stepped in to try to break things up, but then Stine began to assault her, as well. Police say Stine pulled out a knife and cut Hahn. She had to be taken to the hospital for cuts on her chest and face, which required stitches.

One night earlier, police say Stine fired into a south Toledo home on Geneva Avenue, grazing a woman inside.

Stine changed his plea of guilty to no contest for the felonious assault, but pleaded guilty to improperly discharging a firearm into the Toledo home.

His sentencing was added to the court docket last minute Friday. The judge sentenced Stine to 18 years in prison for both charges.

After learning his fate, Stine started to make a scene. Several sheriff's deputies surrounded him and were able to restrain and escort him out of the courtroom.

During the commotion, one of Stine's relatives was escorted out of the courtroom, as well, after yelling, "he could have killed somebody and gotten less time than that."

Because of his plea deal, Stine will have to serve the entirety of his sentence. After his 18 years are served, Stine will face five years probation.
