Smith Co. man pleads guilty to trafficking meth

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

From the U.S. Attorney's Office:

TYLER, Texas – A 49-year-old Whitehouse, Texas man has pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.

Jeffery Blaine pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine today before U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love.

According to information presented in court, up until July 20, 2012, Blaine agreed with others to acquire and distribute more than 50 grams of pure methamphetamine in east Texas. A federal grand jury returned an indictment on Jan 23, 2013, charging Blaine with drug trafficking violations.

Blaine faces a minimum of 10 years and up to Life in federal prison at sentencing. A sentencing date has not been set.

This case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Canton Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Baldwin.
