How to help West Rusk students

Posted: Updated:
MARSHALL, TX (KLTV) -

A community member and East Texas Baptist University have now set up a donation account to help cover some of the unanticipated costs for West Rusk seniors who were planning to be able to attend ETBU for free, under scholarships originally promised by a Houston benefactor.

Per the university, the funds received will be placed in a restricted account and will be equally distributed to West Rusk graduates who are enrolled full time by August 14, 2013. The funds will be applied to the total bill for the fall semester to assist in reducing the total cost for the student.

Funds for this scholarship can be added at any time and will be expended on an annual basis to the 2013 West Rusk High School graduates as long funds remain in the scholarship and the students are enrolled full time at East Texas Baptist University.

Make checks payable to East Texas Baptist University and indicate in the memo section of the check that it is a donation for West Rusk Students. Gifts made to this fund by family members of the students do not qualify for a charitable deduction according to IRS rules and regulations. All other donations are tax deductible and should be sent to:
