But not until Wednesday! High pressure is parked over the Virginias, leaving us with drier weather through Tuesday. We'll have a slim chance of a pop-up storm Tuesday afternoon, but most areas won't see rain.
On Wednesday, an approaching cold front will help draw moisture back into our area. Heavy storms will likely develop in the mountains toward midday, then slide into the Upstate by the afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts will be possible with any storms that develop.
Depending on the movement of the front, we'll either have a drier day on Thursday or a repeat storm day. I think we should see less rain Thursday than Wednesday regardless. By Friday we should be mostly dry with high pressure building back in briefly. It will also be hotter late week... feeling more like typical summer around here with highs around 90 in the Upstate and mid 80s in the mountains.
