GRAND SALINE, TX (KLTV) -

A Grand Saline EMT was arrested late last week on a child pornography charge.

According to Van Zandt County Sheriff Lindsey Ray, Bobby Reed Mooring of Grand Saline was arrested on one count of possession of child pornography. He posted a $25,000 bond and was released on Sunday.

People working nearby say the Texas Rangers and District Attorney's office showed up, explained what they were doing and took Mooring into custody on Friday afternoon.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, the Texas Rangers began investigating Mooring when someone contacted them, stating that Mooring "had a travel trailer with child pornography inside." Court documents state that person told authorities he couldn't meet with them about the allegations "because Mooring had arrested him and he had a pending case filed against him."

According to the affidavit, Mooring was renting a property in Van Zandt County three years ago. When he moved, he left a travel trailer on the property, which the landlord unsuccessfully tried to get Mooring to remove.

Eventually, a new tenant who moved to the property went into the trailer to look for some dishes. When the tenant entered the trailer, he found a nude photograph of two 16-year-old boys. The tenant called the landlord's son, and the two went back to the trailer to look around. After searching, they located a suitcase with 67 photographs of nude boys between the ages of 8 and 16 engaging in sexual activities with themselves, each other and older men. According to the arrest warrant affidavit, investigators found "a plastic identification tag attached to the handle of the suitcase with the name Bobby Mooring. Also, inside the suit case was a prescription bottle with the name of Bobby Mooring on the label."

Records from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement indicate that Mooring was a volunteer police officer at the Van Police Department from March 2011 to October 2012 and served as a reserve police officer for Van Zandt County Constable Precinct 1 beginning in October 2012. No end date for that position was listed on his law enforcement records, but the Van Zandt County Constable in Precinct 1 says Mooring no longer works for his office.

Shortly after KLTV broke the news of Mooring's arrest, Van Zandt County Constable Precinct 1 released this statement on their Facebook page: "We are aware of the allegations against Bobby Mooring, who is a former deputy here in Pct. 1. However, the details have not been shared with us yet".
