7 from 7: Stories for your Friday afternoon

Posted: Updated:

Good afternoon, and happy Friday!

We have a lot going on for you today; here are a few stories that we think you'll find interesting as you wind down your afternoon:

1. The Texas Department of State Health Services has confirmed that there are now 101 cases of cyclospora in Texas on Friday, including two in Smith County and one in Hunt County. This number marks an increase of 21 since numbers were released on Thursday.

2. Emergency crews are responding to an accident on Interstate 20 East on Friday afternoon. A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle near the Highway 69 exit. We have a reporter on the scene and will update you with more during East Texas News at 6.

3.A Tyler attorney and his lawyer are considering filing a judicial grievance against the Smith County judge who ordered his arrest. Attorney Clifton Roberson says on July 1, Smith County deputies were ordered to arrest him for not attending a hearing that conflicted with his family's plans to meet at the hospital where his aunt was dying. We will have a statement from the judge and more on the story at 6.

4. The town of Chapel Hill is refusing to let one of its own fight alone. Jackie Adams, age 37, is a single mother of five battling stage four breast cancer. Here's today's update on the fundraiser for this brave mom.

5. If you're looking for something fun to do this weekend, we've updated our events list, and you can see it right here.

6. Back to school: Are supply lists getting excessive? Our Melanie Torre spoke with one grandmother who says yes; many teachers are commenting on this story, as are other family members of children in classes with the supply lists. See what the grandmother had to say here. Do you agree with her?

7. It may just rain at your house this evening. Make sure to join Meteorologist Grant Dade today at 4, 5 and 6 to find out if it's coming to your area, and when. :)

Join us here for the livestream at 4, 5 and 6 on KLTV.com.

Have a great weekend!
