Longview woman sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking

MARSHALL, TX – A 33-year-old Longview, Texas woman has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today. 

Lidia Gail Brooks Olivares pleaded guilty on May 29, 2013 to possession with intent to distribute heroin and was sentenced to 10 months in federal prison on July 24, 2013 by U.S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap. 

According to information presented in court, on May 4, 2012, Olivares was found in possession of approximately 5.37 grams of a mixture containing heroin in her vehicle.  Also present in the vehicle was Olivares' two small children and another person.  Olivares admitted she intended to distribute the heroin to others.   A federal grand jury returned an indictment on Mar. 27, 2013, charging Olivares and eight others with drug trafficking violations. 

 This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Ann Cozby.
