A Montgomery mother is pleading for any information that will help her get back the ashes of her newborn son.
Monica Thomas was robbed near the intersection of East Park Avenue and Johnson Street Friday night. Inside her stolen purse was an urn containing the ashes of her newborn son.
Thomas said she suffered complications during her pregnancy and her son lived for only two hours after birth. Thomas had planned to bury the ashes next to her mother's grave, but now she just wants the ashes back.
Investigators say they want to find the urn, even if they do not find who stole the purse.
The urn has the name Jamar Simmons Jr. printed on it.
