LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A district judge is allowing the wording of an indictment to be changed in the case of a former Hudson day care owner and her possible connection to the head injury of a baby.

The original indictment stated Jessica Jane Bridwell, 26, of Lufkin, placed Raegan Brasher in physical harm by not getting medical care for her after she had fallen from a changing table on Sept. 6, 2012. The indictment also alleges Bridwell did not take the child to an emergency provider.

Judge Paul White approved District Attorney Art Bauereiss' motion to change the wording of the document to Sept. 6 and/or Sept. 7.

Defense attorney Ryan Deaton opposed the motion, saying the new date was not relevant to the case and made it unclear which date his client was being accused of committing a crime.

When asked why he objected to the motion, Deaton said, "I'm not sure I can really comment on that. The state is amending the indictment to ask for the 6th or the 7th. We just didn't think that was appropriate, but the judge granted it."

However, Deaton said that this change will not affect how he defends Bridwell.

The state shut down Wild About Kids Day Care in November after an investigation into Raegan's injuries she suffered on Sept. 6.

Taylor Sullivan said her nine-month-old baby, Raegan, fell off the table on Sept. 6. She did not learn of the fall until the next day, when one of the workers mentioned the fall to her. The report states the day care director did not contact the parents the next day when she saw a "mushy" bump on the baby's head.

Bridwell is charged with endangering a child. Brittni Elaine Dowthitt, 28, of Lufkin, is also charged with endangering a child, as well as injury to a child. She was the day care worker who was tending to Raegan when the baby fell off the changing table.

A jury selection date for Bridwell has not yet been set. Dowthitt had a plea hearing scheduled on July 1, but it was canceled.
