LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A dispute between a child's mother and father turns violent Sunday morning in the 200 block of Trenton Street in Lufkin.

According to Lufkin Police, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Trenton around 12:00 AM for a disturbance in progress. When officers arrived, Tashia Sexton, 23, was inside a residence refusing to leave, yelling and screaming.

The police report says that Sexton went to pick up her kid from the child's father's house. The pair started arguing and Sexton allegedly hit the father in the face while he was holding their child.

Sexton was arrested and charged with assault family violence. She booked in and out of the Angelina County Jail.

With all the commotion happening on Trenton St., police say Sexton's family started coming over to the house to see what was going on and wanting to know what happened for Sexton to be arrested.

One of Sexton's family members, Shaquille Teel, 22, came to the house, then left, but then drove back by after police had arrived. Officers tried stopping Teel in his vehicle but Teel kept driving.

The police report says Teel drove for several more blocks before he finally stopped. Teel told officers he was "looking for a safe place before he stopped for police."

Teel was arrested for fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, failure to display drivers license and failure to maintain financial responsibility.

Teel posted $2,500 bond and booked out of the Angelina County Jail.
