Wounded dog adopted by Longview family

Posted: Updated:
LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

The Longview dog that was shot more than 30 times with a pellet gun is headed to a new home.

The dog, nicknamed 'Spike Dilinger,' was found in Longview on Tuesday with pellets stuck in his head and body. Spike is expected to recover from his injuries and a new family came forward yesterday to adopt him. The adoption manager at the humane society in Longview said the family fell in love with Spike the moment they saw him.

Spike is still being treated at a local vet's office. The vet taking care of him says Spike should be able to join his new family on Monday or Tuesday.
