Sprint Car Series comes to Cordele

CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

The Sprint Car racing series is making a pit stop in the Watermelon Capital Speedway Saturday. The top 10 finishers quality for a NASCAR affiliated event in Atlanta during Labor Day weekend.

One of those hopeful winners in Morgan Turpen, the lone female racer who has had to overcome obstacles in the sport.

"But then there is some of them that just can't handle it," Turpen said. "We drive everybody the same there is just some of them that can't handle it. We go out there and want to win like everybody else."

She is teammates with Terry Gray, a ten-time National Champion.
