TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

The countdown has officially begun for the annual Texas Rose Festival.

This marks the eightieth annual festival, and this year's Rose Queen is Rachel Vanderpool Clyde. The festival takes place in October, and features the queen's coronation, a parade and the queen's tea. The event has always drawn a lot of people to Tyler.

"The Rose Festival is bigger and better than ever. We bring in hundreds of families from out of town, and hundreds of families in town participate. It has a huge impact on our economy, and it really puts Tyler on the map across the state as well as across the nation," said Randy Grooms, President of the 2013 Texas Rose Festival.

This year's theme is "Raindrops and Roses and Other Favorite Things".
