Texas Guard 911 Observance

Police firefighters and soldiers attended a 9-11 ceremony that took place at the Texas national guard armory in Longview. It was a somber service... A chance for police, firefighters and soldiers to come together. They honored, not only the victims of 911 but all those who have died serving our country. Some soldiers who attended had just returned home from duty in Iraq.

The event was titled Remembering America's Heroes... and featured presentations of awards of recognition of service to fire and police officers... As well as a commemorative flag presented by congressman Max Sandlin. For many it was important to remember our past today, while staying focused on our mission overseas.

"I think it's very important for our generation to remember what happened September 11th and I believe we do, it's not just on the anniversary that we remember it, I think there are a lot of people that get continuing reminders particularly on what going on overseas right now" said Iraq war veteran Lt. Col. Robert Kock.

Members of the Longview police, firefighters and EMT's all participated in and supported todays event.
