A Longview woman was assaulted in her home by an unknown black male on Thursday afternoon. According to Longview police, the assault occurred in the 100 block of Birch Street in Longview.
The woman says when she returned home, she noticed a black male wearing a black t-shirt and blue basketball shorts standing across the street from her house watching her. She went inside and went upstairs, then heard the door close. Thinking it was a neighbor, she turned around and realized the black male was inside her home. The woman tried to make the man leave, but he demanded money and began attacking her, breaking several items in the home. The woman was able to get to a phone and call police and the suspect fled before officers could arrive.

Longview police remind citizens to lock their doors and always call police immediately if a suspicious person or activity is observed.
