Tyler police have found drugs they believe belong to a man involved in a Thursday afternoon hit-and-run accident.
According to Tyler police, 25-year-old Daniel Massad was headed eastbound on the loop in a Dodge pick-up when he ran a red light and collided with a car turning south on to Old Jacksonville Highway. Massad then got out of his car and ran into a wooded area near the intersection of DC Drive and Old Jacksonville Highway.
Witnesses reported seeing Massad fleeing the scene carrying a
backpack. He did not have the backpack at the time of his arrest.
Tyler police say they searched the area near where Massad was found, and found the backpack under some of the overgrown grass. Inside, they found two cellophane baggies containing a total of 4.2 ounces of
Massad's drug charge was
changed from possession of a controlled substance, to manufacture or delivering a controlled substance. A charge of tampering with evidence was also added for his attempt to conceal the
