Sheriff: Suspect in Wood Co. standoff hospitalized after resisting arrest, to be transferred to Wood County Jail

Posted: Updated:

The suspect in a standoff in Wood County was hospitalized after resisting arrest on Tuesday afternoon.

On Tuesday, law enforcement officials initiated a search for Daniel McLemore after he fired shots at a Wood County Deputy and a Department of Public Safety Trooper when they responded to a disturbance call at his residence around midnight on Tuesday. McLemore then escaped into a wooded area behind the property.

According to Wood County Sheriff Jim Brown, McLemore was located just after noon on Tuesday and was wounded when he resisted arrest. He was airlifted to a hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery. Brown says he will be transferred to the Wood County Jail in two weeks where he will await trial for attempted capital murder. He will be held on a $500,000 bond.

DPS, Texas Department of Corrections and the Smith County Sheriff's Department and other agencies all assisted in the apprehension of McLemore.
