Dreams of owning a home became a reality for an East Texas single mother today thanks to the "Women Build" program of Habitat for Humanity. The first round of digging happened Friday on the lot the home is being built on. It's the beginning of weeks of hard work that volunteers will put in to build the home. It's new owner, Kimberly Bruce, will also put in time to help, as many as 500 hours. She could be knocking on the front door of her new three bedroom, one and a half bath home just in time for Christmas.
"I have a 6 year old son, I stay at home with my parents, I had dreams of moving out and thought that would be further down the line and Habitat made it come true," says Bruce.
She also told us she already has an idea how she's going to decorate her house once she moves in.
