Metro plan will allow more affordable housing options

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Thousands of Nashville families will now have access to more affordable housing.

Metro Council passed a plan Tuesday that helps nonprofit groups provide more affordable housing options for the disabled, elderly and low income families.

The program would establish a city trust fund to aid those who qualify.

According to the 2010 census, more than 58,000 people in Nashville were spending more than 30 percent of their household income on rent.
