Dilworth is from Bossier City and has served as superintendent in Montgomery, Alabama and in East Baton Rouge. Robinson is the only candidate currently holding a position with Caddo Parish public schools as Chief of Staff. Perera is from Smithfield, Virginia, where she has served as Division Superintendent at Isle of Wight County Schools, and most recently applied for the school superintendent job in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Among those cut from the final list was Romain Dalleman of Macon, Georgia. Dalleman was forced out by the Bibb County School in February. Dalleman was a candidate for the presidency at Florida A&M University. Also cut: Jerry O. Payne of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Payne worked for the Pine Bluff School board, but was fired in June 2012; and Theodore Thompson of Alexandria, Virginia, who is Deputy Chief of the Office of School Turnaround for D.C. Public Schools.
A Nebraska firm hired by the school board is conducting the search for Caddo's new superintendent.
The board has been on the hunt for a new leader since January when they voted in January not to renew Dr. Gerald Dawkins' contract. Dawkins' contract expires August 12.
Interviews with begin Monday, July 22 with John Dilworth. Agnella Perera will be interviewed on Tuesday, July 23. The final interview, with Robinson, will take place on Wednesday, July 24.
The public is invited to meet the candidates on each day from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the district office board room.
