East Texas Medical Center cut off their ambulance services to the cities of Alto, Wells, Gladewater, Frankston and Van.
The city of Van reached a decision to partner with Champion EMS as their new ambulance service provider. The new contract with Champion EMS went into effect Monday after ETMC cut off their ambulance services to the city due to budget cuts.
Now that Van is contracted with Champion EMS, they are having to pay double of what they previously paid for ambulance services with ETMC.
Champion EMS is fining Van $120,000 a year for their ambulance services.
The citizens of Van had to pay $5 a month for ETMC ambulance services and are now paying $10 a month with Champion EMS.
