Rutherford Co. homeowners can still correct tax appraisals

MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

Homeowners in Rutherford County still have time to correct their property tax appraisals before new notices go out.

Tax assessor Rob Mitchell told our news partners at the Daily News Journal his office can still correct appraisals from his predecessor that were too high on multiple-story homes.

Mitchell defeated incumbent Bill Boner last year.

Boner's time in office was tumultuous. A Channel 4 I-Team investigation revealed several sexual harassment allegations against him, along with complaints of inconsistent property assessments.

Homeowners of multiple-story houses who think their appraisals were too high should call the assessor's office.

New appraisals go out in October.
