TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

The Texas Medical Board temporarily suspended the medical license of William Edward Brown, M.D. without notice on Friday. The board stated that the decision was made after they determined Brown 's continual practice of medicine would constitute a threat to the public welfare due to his impaired status.

The Tyler-based physician's current practice is Gynecology Tyler. He first received his medical license in 1978 and has been practicing medicine in Tyler for 32 years.

Brown released a statement regarding the suspension on Gynecology Tyler's website. The physician stated that the Texas Medical Board has yet to notify him about the suspension, and says their reasons for the move are "unclear...and contain several misrepresentations".

It is unknown at this time when, or if, Brown's license will be reinstated.
