Homer Bryce Stadium now has color.
For the first time since 2003, the playing turf at the stadium will have color.
The turf is being replaced for the first time in a decade and will feature a colored SFA logo in the middle and bright purple end zones on each end.
"When coach [JC Harper] made the announcement to the kids that we would be getting new turf," said James Dixon, director of media relations at SFA. "He mentioned that it would have color and the response that he got was a standing ovation."
The turf is being installed by the same company who did the turf at Cowboys Stadium.
It is expected to be completed by the first week in August.
"You come up here and you see fans that are walking around and they stop by because they just want to get a look at the field," said Dixon. "It just adds to the overall look at the stadium."
The 'Jacks open up the 2013 schedule with road games at Weber State and Texas Tech, before hosting McMurry on September 14th.
