The Tyler Fire and Police Department payed a special visit to children at the East Texas Boys and Girls Club on Friday.
An appreciation luncheon was held for the police officers and firefighters to interact with the children. After some food and dancing, the kids were taken outside and got the chance to explore the police cars and fire trucks. The children were allowed inside some of the vehicles and were able to get their hands on some of the equipment.
"It sends chills up and down your spine a little bit. Once you see and interact with the kids like this and their excited it also gets us a little excited also and it's just a real positive thing," said Gary Middleton, Patrol Officer for the Sheriff's Department.
"My favorite part was to meet the cops. The motorcycle was really fun. The fire trucks were really big. I didn't know they would be that big. I love the cops and how they came to eat with us. That was really fun and I just want to thank them," said Trey Mazretian, a camper at the East Texas Boys and Girls Club.
The East Texas Boys and Girls Club are currently holding a summer camp that will continue through August 16th.
