The Tyler Lions Football Association is hosting its third annual scholastic athletic camp through Saturday. The key word of the camp is scholastic.
Around 100 kids will get to work on all their football skills and fundamentals.
"Some will be lucky enough to go to college and play and hopefully one or two of these young men will go on to the NFL," said John Tyler assistant football coach Chuck Isaac. "It stresses that they have to have a good education so they can make it in life and be extremely successful."
The camp message is to inspire greatness on the field and more importantly greatness in the class room.
"We don't want them on the jail roll, we want them on the honor roll," said Rev. Jerome Milton. "We want them to go to Yale and not jail, Penn State and not the state penn, and when they leave here they are proud to be academic athletes and that's the number one thing that we want them to take from here."
