NEW YORK (RNN) – Eight people were injured, three in serious condition, after an explosion and fire in a Chinatown building on Thursday.

Bug bombs stored in the basement of the building caught fire, although it is unclear how.

The FDNY told NBC4 that there was a partial collapse of the first floor at the rear of the building, and that hose injured were in apartments on the second and third floors.

More than 40 people were displaced by the fire, according to the Red Cross.
