Chris Davis named All-Star starter

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

Longview native Chris Davis has been named to the MLB All-Star team for the 1st time in his career.

Davis has a league high 33 home runs this year and is 2nd in batting average and runs batted in, only behind Detroit's Miguel Cabrera.

Davis earned the most fan votes of any player in the league.

Three Texas Rangers were named all-stars, pitcher Yu Darvish, pitcher Joe Nathan and outfielder Nelson Cruz were all selected.

Jason Castro was the only Houston Astros player to be selected.

The All-Star game is Tuesday, July 16th at Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets.
