October 1: Tyler City Budget Plan Begins

Starting October 1st, Tyler's 13 million dollar city budget goes into effect. Most of the money will go to water and sewer system improvements, and to airport and street improvements. Some city employees will see a bump-up in pay. The budget also keeps the property tax rate at one of the lowest in the state and freezes property taxes for seniors and the disabled.

Highlights of the budget proposal include:

· $8.83 million for water and sewer system improvements

· $3.14 million for airport improvements

· $566,960 for street improvements

· $327,000 for Rose Garden maintenance operations

· $200,000 for improvements to phone and data systems

· $175,000 for a brick streets crew

· $75,000 for Noble E. Young Skate Park improvements, Phase I

· $75,000 for Woldert Park Sprayground, Phase I

· $65,000 for drainage improvements
