KSLA News 12 Editorial: July 3, 2013-Dish Network

I would like to take a moment to address our viewers who watch us through the Dish Network.

On August 1st there is a chance our signal will be removed from the Dish Network due to a lack of an agreement between Raycom Media...who owns KSLA News 12 and Dish Corporate.

First of all, I'd like to apologize to these viewers for the inconvenience they may face of not being able to watch us. I'd also like to say thank you for your loyalty.

I've talked and emailed with many of you in the last few days and I've heard your passionate comments about possibly not being able to watch our news, newscasters and CBS shows.

You have choices. KSLA News 12 still has agreements with other carriers and is free over the air.

If you would like to call Dish and express your concern about possibly losing KSLA News 12 from your channel lineup, you can call them at 1-888-926-5457. You're paying to receive KSLA News 12's signal, ask them for a credit or rebate.

If you would like to respond, please go to the editorial section on our website or send a letter to the station at this address, 1812 Fairfield Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana 71101.

I'm James Smith.

Tonight at 11:59 p.m., KSLA's extended agreement with DirecTV will expire and they may drop this station from their lineup. We have been working hard to stay on their system, but they have simply refused to make a fair deal.

As we all witness the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, we are reminded of the responsibility of local broadcasters to serve those in need. And we're pleased DirecTV understood the importance of our local commitment and accepted Raycom Media's extension.
