Low temperature records fall on Tuesday, more to come tomorrow

Posted: Updated:
EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

The cold front that passed through East Texas over the weekend has made itself very well known, especially during the morning hours as low temperature records that have been in place, in some places, for nearly a century have fallen.

This morning, Tyler Pounds Regional Airport fell to 64°, which tied the record set nearly 50 years ago in 1964. In Lufkin, the record was broken. This morning, Lufkin's low temperature dropped to 63°, which broke a record that was set all the way back in 1920. Longview's record for this date is safe for at least this year. It will remain 61°, which was set in 1924.

Tomorrow morning, I believe that Tyler and Lufkin's records will fall. With fair to partly cloudy skies and fairly dry air still in place, Tyler's record of 64° (1964), Longview's of 60° (1924) and Lufkin's of 65° (1920), are in jeopardy, especially Tyler's and Lufkin's low temperature records.

Tune in to tomorrow to find out if one, two or all three of these record low temperature records fall by the wayside.
