FOREST PARK, OH (FOX19) -

A 3K walk raises funds for those dealing with homelessness, lack of clean water and little access to medical care in Haiti.

The Quinn Chapel American Methodist Episcopal Church in Forest Park hosted the event on Saturday at Glenwood Gardens Park.

More than 100 people took part in the event raising more than $10,000 to send to Haiti.

Organizers say the funds will be used to help victims of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti who are still dealing with various issues.

"Naturally, public attention moved onto the next world catastrophe," explains Lajuana Miller, a fundraiser for the Walk for Haiti. "To some extent, if you're not on the news all the time, we as Americans forget what you're going through. Today, as we stand, more than 300 thousand people are living in temporary housing and tents in Haiti. If ever there was a place that needed help, it was Haiti."

Organizers say that the money will reach Haitians in need thanks to partners from Matthew 25 Ministries and the African Methodist Episcopal Church which has an orphanage in Haiti.
