PRICE HILL, OH (FOX19) -

A suspect has been indicted for firing a shot at SWAT officers.

The incident happened on June 28 at an apartment in Price Hill.

Rico Jones, 32, has been indicted for felonious assault, having weapons under disability and several drug charges.

Police say Jones has a history of violence and was involved in a shootout with police at the same apartment building in 2012.

"He's been a part of shootouts, he's been a part of drug sales. He's part of the violence that's been plaguing our neighborhoods," said Paul Humphries, Cincinnati Police interim chief.

When SWAT knocked on the door and ordered Jones to come out, he fired one shot through the door.

No one was hit.

The suspect eventually came out and was arrested without incident.

Jones was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts felonious assault, one count of possessing a weapon while under disability, two counts of trafficking in drugs, and one count of possession of drugs.

Humphries said the arrest was part of an ongoing effort to place violent offenders into custody and make the streets of Cincinnati safer.

"This has got to stop," he said. "We are not going to stop kicking in doors, we are not going to stop targeting those committing violence in our neighborhoods."

According to the police report, Jones has a felony conviction on his record and is not allowed to carry a firearm.
