13-year old killed after bike struck by pickup

SALEM TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A 13-year old boy is dead after his bicycle was struck by a pickup truck in Salem Township.

Authorities say the accident happened around 8:25 p.m. Thursday evening on State Route 123 near mile marker 13.

Police say David Fields, 13, was riding his bicycle on a private driveway when the accident occurred. Fields was unable to stop his bicycle at the end of the driveway and traveled onto State Route 123.

The bicycle was stuck by a Ford F-150 pickup headed northwest on State Route 123. The pickup was driven by 64-year-old Thomas Osbourne of Waynesville, Ohio.

Fields was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by Air Care where he was pronounced dead.

He was not wearing a helmet.

Osbourne was not injured as a result of the crash. 

The crash remains under investigation.
