2 arrested in high speed chase from LA into ETX

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Two people are facing charges after a high-speed chase that started in Shreveport early Friday morning and ended after the driver crashed in East Texas.

Shreveport police confirm that they were in pursuit of a driver after a traffic stop just before 4 a.m. Police it all started when they spotted a car parked behind a business in the 900 block of Shreveport-Barksdale Highway. Police that's when the male driver sped off. The driver lead police on a high-speed chase for about 20 minutes. Police say the passenger threw several items out the window. No word on what those items were.

That chase then crossed into East Texas into Harrison County, Texas and then into Gregg County where the driver side-swiped an 18-wheeler at mile marker 603 before crashing on I-20 at mile marker 597 between Loop 281 and Eastman Road.

A woman in her mid 20's and a man in his late 30's were both arrested. Harrison County Sheriff's deputies say the driver faces charges of evading arrest with a vehicle and both will be charged simple evading arrest.

Police say there are no serious injuries.
