NY man accused of stealing electricity to operate drug factory

WEST HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

A man from New York has been arrested after being accused of stealing electricity in order to operate a drug factory in West Haven.

Police said on May 29, officers arrested Joel Polanco, 33, of New York City after a lengthy investigation.

According to West Haven police, members from the Drug Enforcement Agency and United Illuminating Security Department conducted investigations into Polanco.

He was accused of stealing $90,000 worth of power to operate a marijuana grow house on Third Avenue, where more than 360 marijuana plants were found.

Polanco was charged with larceny for stealing the electricity and a slew of drug charges.
