Boil water notice issued for city of Henderson

Posted: Updated:

From the City of Henderson:

HENDERSON, TX - Due to a water main rupture in connection with construction activity, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of Henderson water system to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.

We are looking for the Boil Water Notice to affect everyone south and west of Highway 79N and Highway 64. If you experience severe water pressure drop or loss of water service entirely, you would included in this boil water notice.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and the boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system officials will notify you that the water is safe for consumption. Instructions to discontinue the boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.

If you have any questions concerning this matter, you may contact Director of Utilities, Randy Boyd at 903-657-5246.

We apologize for the inconvenience and we assure you that all necessary steps are being taken to restore water service and then to test the water. After the water service is restored and tested for safety, customers will be notified by Code Red, radio, and newspaper.
