Old Juco Rivals Renew Rivalry In Early Game

One of the best junior college football rivalries in the state starts up again Saturday morning. The Tyler Junior College Apaches will host the Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals beginning at eleven AM.

The Apaches have won five of the last six, and the two teams actually play twice this season. Apaches coach Dale Carr says he's likes the early start for a big game.

"I guess I got acclimated to that when I was at Colorado State," Carr says. "We didn't even have lights on our field, so we almost never played night games. I hate waiting around, this way you can get it done and go eat, then watch some of the college games."

Saturday's game does not count as a conference game. The two teams will play again during the Southwest Junior College Football Conference season in Athens on October 23.
