Margaritaville to open for 'sneak peek' on Thursday

Shreveport-Bossier's newest casino will be open for a "sneak peek" on Thursday.

Margaritaville has confirmed they are ready for business, after passing state inspections on Wednesday.

On Wednesday afternoon, they announced the casino, restaurants and bars will be open to the public during the following times:

       Margaritaville Casino 9am - 5pm
       Margaritaville Restaurant 8am - 9pm
       World Tour Buffet  4pm - 9pm
       Banyan Tree Coffee Bar 9am - 9pm
       Margaritaville Retail Store 9am - 9pm

Part of the testing procedure, followed by another audit on Friday. Then, if all goes well, they will re-open for good on Saturday.

Voters approved a proposal to expand riverboat gambling in Bossier Parish in November 2011. Developers broke ground along 777 Margaritaville Way in February 2012.

The $197 million casino and hotel resort is expected to bring more than 1,200 jobs to Bossier Parish. They began accepting job applications in January 2013, and taking hotel reservations in April.

The casino is all on one level, spread across 30,000 square feet. There are around 1,300 slot machines and 54 table games. It also features a 400-room hotel and three restaurants. The Paradise Theater seats 900.

It's the sixth casino in the Shreveport-Bossier area and the first new facility in more than a decade.

Jimmy Buffett is slated to perform at the Paradise Theater on Wednesday, July 3 to celebrate the grand opening. Tickets went on sale June 7.

Tickets to the performance start at around $200.
