MVSU faces penalties due to low APR scores

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Postseason bans are on the way for three major Mississippi Valley State athletic programs.

The Delta Devils football, baseball and men's basketball programs will be hit with postseason bans in the 2013-2014 academic year due to low Academic Progress Rate scores.

MVSU has submitted waivers to the NCAA in hopes of overturning the penalties.

It is the second straight postseason ban for the MVSU men's basketball team.

MVSU athletic director Ashley Robinson released a statement saying the school is making substantial changes to improve the APR.
