CMA Music Fest reports record-breaking crowd attendance

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Event organizers are calling this year's CMA Music Festival the biggest ever. According to the Country Music Association, the four-day festival was attended by 80,000 people, a 15 percent increase from last year.

The strong turnout came with good weather. The highest temperature of the festival was 84 degrees, below the yearly average.

With tickets selling out a full six weeks before the festival, officials reported problems with scalpers. Reports flooded in of situations where guests bought either fake tickets or real tickets that had been reported lost or stolen. The Country Music Association advised to only buy from licensed vendors, including their box office or Ticketmaster.

"We don't want anyone taken advantage of," said Wendy Pearl of the Country Music Association. "With a sold out event, if they're buying tickets from somebody they don't know, they need to stop and consider what they're buying and what that means."

Event organizers advise to start buying tickets for next year's CMA Fest now. They say the tickets are already half sold.
