Neches ISD school board member charged with possession of child porn

ANDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas school board member is charged with possession of child pornography.

Joshua Kincade, 33, is a Neches Independent School District school board member who was released on a $15,000 bond Friday morning.

"We were investigating another crime and came across this information and this image that he had on his phone," explained Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor.

Taylor said Kincade had a photo of a nude Neches ISD student on his iPhone.

"Which led to us getting a search warrant and an arrest warrant for him for child pornography," said Taylor.

Sheriff County officials seized more than six iPhones, thumb drives, a camera and laptops among other items from Kincade's Palestine home.

"We did find other images, but they are going to have to be analyzed at the lab and that's going to take some time," said Taylor.

Neches ISD Superintendent Randy Snider said Kincade is a new school board member who took office in November.

Snider said the district will not take action until the investigation has concluded.

"He is only alleged to have done it. Since he is an elected official, there's really, out of my control until the sheriff's department and the DA go through their steps. Then if he is found to be guilty then there is certain situations, things that we have to do, but if he's not found guilty then there is not anything that I can do," Snider said.

Sheriff Taylor said he notified the student's mother of the incident and wants to encourage parents to monitor their children closely.

"What I do want people to take away from this is they need to pay attention to what their children are doing on their phones and on their computer, and what they are sending and who they are talking to. I mean, parents need to get involved," Taylor said.

Sheriff Taylor said Kincade could face more charges pending the results of this investigation.
