The best season in Whitehouse history fell one game short of the state championship game. In a nip and tuck game between two evenly matched teams, Corpus Christi Moody defeated Whitehouse 3 to 2 Thursday night in the 4A state semifinals at Dell Diamond.
Both teams benefited from their opponents mistakes. Moody took a 1 to 0 lead in the first inning after a wild pitch. Whitehouse tied the game in the third inning after an error.
The Trojans immediately answered with a run in the bottom of the third. The Wildcats once again tied the game in the fourth.
It looked like Moody took reclaimed the lead in the fifth inning, but the run was taken back after an interference call. Moody scored the game winning run with two outs in the sixth inning after another infield error.
The Wildcats finish the season 31 and 9.
