ECCC’s Tim Anderson Named NJCAA Division II Baseball All-American

Accolades continue for Major League Baseball prospect and former East Central Community College Diamond Warrior Tim Anderson who was selected a 2013 NJCAA Division II Baseball All-American, according to the NJCAA Web site.

Anderson, who is projected to be a first-round selection in the MLB Draft scheduled Thursday, June 6, is the only player from a Mississippi community college selected a First Team NJCAA Division II All-American.

He earlier received All-Region 23 and MACJC All-State recognition for the second straight year and is among top nominees for 2013 NJCAA Division II Baseball Player of the Year.

Anderson led the nation in batting with a .495 average. He belted 10 home runs, 11 triples and 18 doubles, and was among the top run producers with 45 RBIs. He finished second in stolen bases with 41 and led in runs scored with 62.

The talented shortstop was also selected most valuable player on the Diamond Warriors' 2013 MACJC State Championship squad. Anderson is a product of Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

EC's baseball program is led by head coach Neal Holliman and assistants Justin Brewer, Jack Edmonson and Slater Lott.
