A Tyler Independent School District middle school student was arrested on Monday for bringing a weapon on the campus of Hogg Middle School. Tyler ISD said it was a loaded .380 pistol. The weapon was confiscated by Tyler ISD police and no students were harmed.
According to Dawn Parnell, with Tyler ISD, school officials were notified about the gun by another student. The district is still investigating, but it has been determined that the student did not intend to hurt anyone, but instead brought the gun to school to show off.
Disciplinary action has been taken, but the age and grade of the student are not being released.
